@CB I'm not sure, but there are lots of laws and regulations for anything related to gambling on the internet, especially since 2006 and the UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act). Because Fantasy Baseball is considered a game of skill, it is legal. However, betting money, even on something that is a game of skill, is still gambling. I don't know if sites need permits or licenses to be able to legally offer money leagues, or if they just need to follow the rules and regulations that are in place; but I think it's likely they are just waiting on a permit or license before they can put their pro leagues back.
In anycase, they should be backup very soon. Good luck to everyone playing this year.
I emailed Yahoo customer service a couple of weeks ago and got this back:
"............Currently, our Pro Leagues for Fantasy Baseball are not yet live. However, we are working on bringing them online very soon, which will be well before the start of the season.
We appreciate your patience as we work to open up our Pro Leagues."
I don't speak for them but I would think it will be up by Monday or sometime next week as they will surely lose a ton of players, money, by then as people want to draft as soon as possible.
