stick with Arencibia. I am and he's rewarded me with the occasional home run. I clued a friend into Pierzynski while Arencibia was hitting, and got mad at myself for that one. But A.J. has since cooled off.
I speculated going catcherless, but every week I've been so neck in neck in hits and runs that I could never chance doing such a thing.
I went into my 14-man draft with low sights for catching and closers, that I'd take the best catcher possible late in the draft, and that I'd scour free agency for closers mid-season. So far, both strategies have worked. I'm in 1st place going 28-8 with a 9 point lead today. If you target top catching high in the draft, you miss the chance to get a more impactful player in other positions.
If you didn't get Posey or Napoli, statistically speaking, you're not the only one suffering in the catcher spot. So it doesn't matter.
Im also in first, I have 5 closers, pretty solid starting pitching(5 of them with some streaming against the padres/twins), a ton of power and speed from the rest of my lineup(Parra, Campana, Schafer)....I missed out on Ruiz because JP was hitting for a few days when Ruiz got hot....its been a week without a catcher(I had one for a couple days but they didnt even play)
