    keeper help

    thanks Jim.

it seems to be split down the middle with the answers I am getting.

    There are two additional points....
    1. I have an deal in place that would get me a 2nd rd pick for Lawrie
    2. I have a handshake deal to move Halladay for Justin Upton.

If I can get Upton...discussion over. I move Halladay for upton and trade Lawrie.

I agree with the thought that pitching is deep enough to take the chance, but I also agree that hype is only hype. right now I'm torn.

    • Consider this. I have a guy in my league that every year he's trying to get the next big thing to rebuild his team, and each year he releases a veteran keeper for a young kid who hasn't established himself yet that is gonna take a few years to mature. He could of been in the playoffs the past three years and maybe even won, but instead he finished on the bottom each year because he had all these kids that had future potential but nothing for the present.
If you keep Halladay (or get Justin Upton), combined with the players you are already keeping, you have a solid core of players for at least the next few years. You are in a position to where you don't have to chase the rookies and keep your fingers crossed with their unpredictable numbers. Yes it's always nice to have one or two blue chip prospects, but with your players you should be looking for established talent that can help you win now because with your keepers, like I said, you're taken care of for next year as well.
