Your opinion is irrelevant and the bottom line is that we don't know everything that happened. Were there cameras videotaping the incident.
Maybe Manny didn't push him, maybe he bumped him and he tripped. Maybe Manny punched him in the face. It doesn't matter. It is the Red Sox organizations business as to how to handle this and if the Travel Secretary decides that he's all right with it, let it be. Frankly, its' none of your business.
As for Manny being a role model for children, is he a worse role model then the coke snorting players of the 80's, or the violent racist Ty Cobb, or the womanizing smoking Babe Ruth? Manny lends his name to charities all over the country.
Get off your high horse.
Who said any of thos epeopel were right? Its just that attitude that let them be what they were. You are making my point for me. We as a society have to say "Enough of this!" As long as we allow Manny to be Manny and every other celebrity/athlete to exist with different rules from the rest of us we are failing as a society. You have to look beyond the end of your nose. There is a whole world out there and everything is connected.
I could write an entire volume of books on how this very attitude of "It doesn't effect me" had been the downfall of this country. Its a denial of our own responsibilty to each other that has put incompetent men in power adn allowed them to make decisions that have hurt us all. Pull back an dlook at the big picture.
And we DO now what happened because of eye-witness accounts. It wasn't just Manny and McCormick standing there. There were lots of people around and they saw what happened. Mo one has denied the account of the incident as reported. Not the Sox, not McCormick, not Manny. The question here is wether or not Ramirez got what he deserved. My position is NO. I believe he was let off because they Red Sox are in second place and they don't want to lose one of thier best players in the middle of a pennant race. I say there are more important things than winning a baseball game.I feel that the Red Sox deserve to lose because they put winning ahead of doing the right thing.
