On June 5th 2008 during a game at Fenway against the Tampa Bay Rays, an altercation between Manny Ram?rez and Kevin Youkilis resulted from Ram?rez objecting to what he believed was excessive - and chronic - complaining about the strike zone by Youkilis in the dugout, as well as the first baseman's penchant for throwing equipment after at-bats. Before the fifth inning - and after the Red Sox-Rays punching session - Ram?rez was caught on NESN cameras slapping Youkilis. The pair also exchanged words, and had to be separated by teammates, coaches, and training staff. Youkilis headed out to the field still barking at Ram?rez, while Ram?rez was escorted into the tunnel leading to the clubhouse by bench coach Brad Mills and trainer Paul Lessard. According to three sources, Ram?rez had told Youkilis to "cut that [expletive] out." That was what provoked Youkilis and started the problem. Later in the season during the series with the Houston Astros, Ram?rez had a physical altercation with Red Sox traveling secretary Jack McCormick. The two were arguing over Ram?rez's unusally large, game-day request for 16 tickets to the game in Houston, when Ram?rez reportedly threw McCormick to the ground after saying "Just your do you [expletive] job." The two were quickly separated and Ram?rez later apologized for his behavior.
    Great guy and teammate.

      • Assault is a crime of violence against another person. In some jurisdictions, including Australia and New Zealand, assault refers to an act that causes another to apprehend immediate and personal violence, while in other jurisdictions, such as the United States, assault refers only to the threat of violence caused by an immediate show of force. Simple assaults that do not involve any aggravation such as use of a deadly weapon are distinguished from aggravated assaults in some jurisdictions.

Assault is often defined to include not only violence, but any physical contact with another person without their consent.

How is that NOT what Manny did?

      • I am a full on active Democrat who abhors violence in all forms. I am for a complete ban on hand guns and think the fines and suspensions in all of the major sports are a joke. What is $10, 000 dollars to a man who make more than that in one game? Sit 'em down for 20 or 25 games with no pay and fine them an amount equal to the number of game checks they lose. Make it hurt them and their teams and you will see a lot less of this bull.
        Does that answer your question?

      • Too bad Coco is suspended right now! We could use him!
