how would you improve this team:

3B David Wright (NYM - 3B)

UTIL Billy Butler (KC - 1B,OF)

BN Evan Longoria (TB - 3B)
BN Jim Thome (CWS - Util)
DL Shane Victorino (Phi - OF)
SP Aaron Harang (Cin - SP)
SP Javier V?zquez (CWS - SP)
RP Francisco Rodr?guez (LAA - RP)
RP C.J. Wilson (Tex - RP)
P Rafael Betancourt (Cle - RP)
BN John Maine (NYM - SP)
BN Cliff Lee (Cle - SP)
DL Pedro Mart?nez (NYM - SP)
obviously i need help at 2b. can i get a quality 2b by trading ethier+longoria?
my league overweights pitching but has a low innings max. therefore, i need to max my points per inning pitched as we're all sure to max out on innings.
all comments and suggestions are welcome.
thanks in advance....-
thanks for all the advice. i think i have a better idea of where i need help the most and what chips i can use to bargain with.

a lil more thoughts.. a uti player.. like thome.. is good but he's not helpful in many positions.... BUT uti.. which makes it hard in a long run.. though he is good consider trading him since HE can get you a good 2b or a good sp../cl... in your deal.. dont offer vidro to anyone.. just drop him once you get a good 2b... i would look to even upgrade helton for more power on a corner infield.. so look to shop him... for more power and a better player.. kapler will eventually be not that great.. if you can sell high... or meduim for a setup man or a Cl (because bettancourt will go back when joe is back in a few weeks).. if possible a P and the rest is up to you.. if you need more advice and like what i said.. email me

here is i think some very sound advice on trading ever....well its kinda all up to you.. but i think that vidro obviously needs to go.. you have to look at what you have in excess and see how you can take that find where another team has a need and trade with them to upgrade.. I would try to not do a stack trade (4 players for one) because that causes stress on them to try to drop too many players that they might think are good.. try to make it seem even.. unless you can see that they have a player that they can drop.. trading big names always helps you.... if your trying to get a name... I like to take some risks on people that have a better potential outlook ( like trading adam dunn for swisher last year) that can hurt you.. but in learning its really helpful to learn to trust a guy the fantasy experts (andy, buser, funston, evans) and you just kinda need to try to make a strong trade that will cause you to shed off something ( for instance like if you have 3 5 tool potential players and all will get about 20hr 20sb.. and offer it to help your team... sometimes you just have to play the free agents.. and look for the top prospects comming up.. and be the first to jump on it.. because besides that your team looks decently solid.. but again.. all trades come down to helping you in overall stats for each category... how will a player affect a specific category will change who your trading for... hopefully that helped you get an idea on trading and how to better yourself in it

lose Kapler and Carlos Lee, get some help at first and second. CJ Wilson had a crap outing and that hurt you but keep at it.

pitching is fine. outfield is great. just help at second. try trading butler, kapler, or victorino for 2b. plug jim thome in. too valuable to bench!!

regarding thome: i just picked him up as a FA. it looks like he is breaking out so i may begin playing him now. butler may be a good trading chip.

not sure what you mean by that. are you saying my team is so bad that i should kill myself? seems a little drastic.

Try to start Thome over Butler, Thome is off to an excellent start with the White Sox, the White Sox has looked like a great team as they were a couple of years ago.

you can defietly move them both for a decent 2nd baseman.........but try to aim for a lower strugling 2nd baseman instead.........while not trading them.........Look at who has Kendrix and Kelly Johnson........if they have a good 2nd baseman........try to make a move for one of them 2...........not for longoria and either.......but for someone like Butler......
move Thome in UTIL......
and try to get another SP or something along those lines for Longoria/Either........maybe even try to upgrade your 1st base with a trade involving Longoria/Helton........and keep Either on your bench....
and of course pick up a SP or RP with that extra spot
in a 14 team league, this team is great....... -
looking at your pitching i would say none of them is going to kill your era or whip. once borowski comes back you can pick up another pitcher since betancourt will be useless.
as for your hitting you are right about second base. if you hold on to longoria long enough he may gain you value so you can use him to improve at second. if you can find a taker for kapler jump at the chance. once cameron comes back he will lose all his value. as a matter of fact you may want to dump him now.- 1 Reply to WilliamG

i agree with your comments about kapler. bourn is FA in my league and hawpe is on the WW. should i pick up either? i could certainly use help with stolen bases.
regarding betancourt, i wouldn't be surprised to see him keep the closer job. but i could be wrong.
