12-team ESPN league with 2 divisions. 6 teams make the playoffs. Top team in each division gets a first round bye.
How do the remaining 4 teams get in? Wildcard style? Or 2nd and 3rd place teams from each division?
If its a private league, maybe the commish can do what he pleases, but I would report it to ESPN.
Hope you have the common sense not to play with these people next year.
Whatever, its another danger of playing in money leagues which is why I don't do them.
He's breaking the rules, plain and simple. Anytime a commish has to manually change something, it's likely they are going against the leagues settings. Top team in each division should get the bye, then it goes from the next 4 best records from there, regardless of what division they are in. Doesn't matter if 5 teams from one division make the playoffs. He's cheating. This is fantasy football, not real football. Is there a consolation bracket in the NFL? Ha ha....nope.

So is ESPN by default. My 7-6 team finished in 6th, but then the commish manually modified the playoff schedule and put his brother's 6-7 team into the winner's bracket and me in the consolation bracket.
His excuse was that "you don't see an AFC team taking the NFC's playoff spot." He NEVER once posted or announced that this is how he was going to do the seeding. The league settings indicated it was the default 6-team, 3-round playoff format.
He is talking to me like I am the crazy one who should've known it's "supposed to be" 3 teams from each division (even though there's no way to set the league up like that without changing the playoff schedule manually)!
Worst part is it's a league with "friends" and a money league to boot. Not really friends with the commish, more so his brother, but still
