should he get credit for the fumble recovery since hes an offensive player or should it just go to the defense? ive got a discrepancy in my league. owner thinks johnson should get credit cus he is an offensive player. but once indy takes possession that makes him a defensive player no matter what his position is correct? thoughts?
Both Stevie AND Buffalo D get credit. Same logic as when Percy Harvin returns a kickoff for TD. Both the MN Def/special teams and the individual player get credit. By the way, if Stevie would have scored a TD on that recovery, it would be a Defensive TD as well as a Stevie Johnson TD.
It shouldnt go to the defense. its the same in IDP leagues that award points per individual tackles. say Matt Schaub throws an INT, if Andre Johnson tackles the defender then he would get 1 point for making the play. same logic applies here. if the point goes to anyone then it should go to stevie johnson, not the bills D
Typically this stat only affects leauges that use Individual Defensive Players (IDP). The reason for this is that the fumble recovery falls under D/ST categories and does not benefit an individual player in most leagues.
This is the same reason that Edelman (NE - WR) does not receive any credit for his fumble recovery and TD against the Jets. I believe it would be up to your league to debate if BUF defense should have received credit, but that opens up any prior issues to change.
