Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
Ehhh. He should provide a decent avg, as he#$%$ .293 at AAA after hitting .343 in 81 games at AA last year. His bb rate vs k rate (12.7% vs 7.1%) is pretty incredible, and I expect that his discipline will be reflected in his major league numbers. However, he doesn't hit for power, and he doesn't steal many bases (plus, the Braves are 23rd in the majors with 25 stolen bases, so I don't think running is a big part of their game anyway).
So if you need to plug a gaping hole at 2b, he's not a terrible choice. I have Wong on a team until Zobrist comes back, and I'm sticking with him. Gordon Beckham is only 12% owned, and I'd probably go with him over La Stella - just because Beckham has the major league experience plus a little pop.
I'd keep my expectations in check with La Stella. Unlike some guys who come up and can compensate for shortcomings by excelling in other areas (like Simmons last year, hitting only .248 but also hitting 17 home runs), La Stella really needs to be able to hit for average or else it doesn't seem like he'll have any value at all.
