I was just offered BRANDON BELT (18th round keeper value) for my JEDD GYORKO (11th round keeper value)...
Would it make sense to make this trade considering that I already have Edwin Encarnacion, Brandon Moss, and Nolan Arenado to cover my 1B/CI spot.
I already have Daniel Murphy and Brad Miller to cover 2B for me. Please let me know what you think..
Don't look at moves as "one-and-done." Look at the longer sequence of moves. Specifically, Belt is a very good hitter who unfortunately plays in a park that kills left-handed power. But his line drive swing, good walk rate, good spot in the Giants' order mean he is a legit producer. Further, he gives you 7 rounds of added value.
So do the deal. Then deal Moss for a 2nd baseman like Altuve. Altuve is better than Gyorko in terms of BA, OBP, R, SB. And he is a cheaper player in terms of draft spot than Gyorko, no?
I am guessing that Moss has a very low draft spot so he is worth a keeper position with his 30 HR, 100 RBI potential.
So you deal Gyorko and Moss and get Altuve and Belt. Belt is better than Moss and Altuve is better than Gyorko.
That is how I build my teams.
