Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
20 team H2H league, 8 keepers. I typically like to keep #$%$ and 3 pitchers, which is why this situation is so tough.
6. Anibal Sanchez
7. Matt Cain
Pedro Alvarez or Michael Wacha?
Both young, all else equal, I'd rather keep Wacha.....but I'm inclined to keep a 5th hitter, and there's not likely to be that much power anywhere in the draft. Thoughts?
I don't play in a 20 team league but I find it hard to believe that Heyward is a keeper in a 20 team league.
I prefer Wacha over Alvarez but I would probably keep Alvarez in a 20 team league (if only for trade bait) as 30 HR power will be scarce in a 20 team league and SP can still be found (with some flaws).
Keep both and drop Sanchez. Despite having a down year last season I think Cain is more reliable than Sanchez. Cain posted a 2.63 ERA after the break last year, and he pitches in a more pitcher friendly ballpark than Sanchez.
Pitching is pretty deep this year, so I would go Pedro... but I would also be inclined to drop Cain and keep both Pedro and Wacha. Wacha may go bust, but he may be an ace; and Cain's best days are clearly behind him.
