Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
fwiw he was dropped in my league too and nobody has touched him yet. those 9runs he gave up were UGLY. I think he has a few more good starts in him, but he is not the guy I'd want in my H2H playoffs unless I was starting him as my 5th WR and Peyton was his QB
I dropped Samardzija yesterday. He puts up good strikeout numbers, but it seems like every other start is disappointing. He got lit up by the lowly Phillies yesterday and faces the dangerous Reds in his next match-up. I decided to go with Jhoulys Chacin, who has looked impressive, instead.
I have enough SP depth to bench him, and was lucky enough to have done so yesterday.
Quality H2H playoff aces are hard to come by, you can luck into a stream here or there, but you have a better chance of getting burned as well streaming the FA pool.
Samardzija in 2011 August ERA 1.13, WHIP 0.94, K/9 of 9.56, September ERA 1.42, WHIP 1.18, K/9 of 7.11
in 2012 his August ERA was 3.52, WHIP 1.10, K/9 of 9.86, September ERA 1.69, WHIP 0.81, K/9 of 9.56
Granted this year, 2 starts into August, horrendous numbers, with a K/9 of 11.57. But it's only been 9.33 innings. His FIP is the same as each of the last 2 years, his xFIP is close to the same, and his babip is up about 20 points, not a ton, but not lucky either.
If you don't have the room on your bench and are still desperate to make the playoffs, then I can understand not being able to be patient. But to cut bait on the above with playoffs coming along is just begging for your opponent to have a better chance of possibly taking home your trophy if/when they pick him up.

Some info I SHOULD'VE provided. The league is the smallest I play in (10-team standard 5x5 H2H KEEPER). My current rotation is as follows:
Beachy (I will take him off the DL if I drop Samardzija)
