I am in a keeper league where we keep three (1 pitcher, 1 hitter, 1 our choice). I currently have a sick rotation with Kershaw, Harvey, Scherzer, and Corbin. I cannot keep Kershaw, his contract is up. I also have Trout (still has keeper eligibility) and Goldschmidt who is in his first year on my team so I am keeping them.
So I can only keep on SP. I thought about trading Kershaw since I cannot keep him but I do not want anybody else to have him and he can help me through the season. I heard before his last start that Harvey has only ten more starts left (now nine). He is the least likely to help me in that final week should I make it that far. I could trade him and still have the best rotation in the league. Obviously I would only do it for something huge, but is it something I should consider?
One guy has Votto/Cargo/Myers and no real keeper SP. He LOVES Wil Myers but cannot keep him if he keeps the other two. I am thinking about trying to figure out how to get Cargo.
Tough call there but I think you NEED to keep Harvey, I believe he is worth holding onto this year..definitely more than Scherzer and Corbin. My advice is to trade Kershaw or Scherzer if you think you can take the hit in SP and grab cargo and obviously keep him after this year..I believe that the owner who has cargo will be more willing to trade him because of Cargos finger problems....try and give him Scherzer/package him with someone else and see what happens. I do not know how deep your league is in SP but I am almost sure you can grab someone that will help you out down the stretch. (pending on who is available, take a look at Ivan Nova, Danny Salazar, etc.)
