    Seager for Zimmermann?

I just had a guy in my league offer me Kyle Seager for Jordan Zimmermann. I normally would hesitate to take it, but if Everth Cabrera gets suspended, I'll need a 2B and J-Z has been struggling lately.

Good deal for me in a H2H, 10-team, non-keeper league?

    • You should own Seager over Cabrera even with both being healthy.

Obviously you have not checked the MLB leaders in adjusted OPS+, runs created, adjusted batting runs, and adjusted wins. Seager was a .328 hitter in .328 minor league games. He plays the thin fantasy baseball positions of 2B and 3B. He put up 20 HR and 13 SBs last season. His MLB 162 game averages are 75 R, 21 HR, 77 RBI, 10 SB, .273 BA. He is just 25 years old (read coming into his prime performing years).

Seager is real and is a 4-5 category contributor. Cabrera is not such a contributor and neither is Zimmermann.

    • Thanks to everyone who provided some feedback.

Just an update -- the Seager owner actually withdrew his offer before I could accept it. Said he is a little concerned about J-Z having a disappointing second half, but he might send the proposal again if he sees another strong start. (He's a big Nats fan)

Martin Prado's owner is willing to trade me him in exchange for Zach Wheeler. Our league lets you keep one player who was taken in the last three rounds of the draft, and Wheeler qualifies. So, I could send my keeper eligible player to a guy who is in last place (and planning for next year) in exchange for Prado. Or, I could hold out hope that the Seager for Zimmermann deal is offered again.

      Thoughts?

    • I would rather have Seager (and you already have too many starting pitchers).

    • I'd say its a fair deal. If memory serves me right, Zimm had a nice drop off second half last year and seems to be trending that way this year also. Seager is studly, has been batting in the middle of the SEA order and he plays everyday. The Mariners are not as offensively inept as they have been in past years. Always take the bat over the arm.

    • Will your pitching struggle w/ out Z? Do you or the waiver wire have a good 2B back up option? If the answer to both of those questions is "yes"...then don't do the deal. On strictly numbers, though, I wouldn't say it's unfair, but I'd rather have Z....

      Answer mine?

      • Without Zimm, I will still have Scherzer, Harvey, Locke, Iwakuma, Samardzija, Wheeler, Cingrani, Ogando and Cashner as starters, although I realize some of those guys are young and inexperienced.

I have 2B such as Everth Cabrera, Jedd Gyorko and Anthony Rendon on my roster, but the rookies are really struggling right now, and Everth could get suspended.
