Should I trade Konerko for Headley?

Hi folks. This is a 12 team, roto, & 5x5 league. I'm needing 3B help with having Zimmerman & Aramis Ramirez now on the DL. I already have Votto & Fielder as my 1B. My hitting depth is good enough right now where I don't need to use Konerko as a Util. I do not like the 3B's that are on the FA list. Should I try & offer:

    My: Konerko
    for
    His: Headley

I will answer your posts too. Thanks!

    • yes, with the 1b you have I would do it...and if headley gets hurt you have the other guys coming back...if healthy, you have some nice trade bait. please answer my keeper question. thank you.

    • The answer is yes, this trade works for you, but differently than other posts.

There is little to no chance Headley duplicates last year's power. He has 5 full seasons in the big leagues and hasn't hit more than 12 HRs or slugged over .420 in any of them other than last year's monster season. Just flat out get that out of your expectations and you won't be disappointed. If he turns into a Jose Bautista then I'll eat those words, but most likely last year was a Brady Anderson, Luis Gonzalez and 20 other names who had one great power year and went back to normal every year of their long careers.

Saying that, it appears Konerko is a bench player, and even if he wasn't, he's going to hit 90 RBIs which you can expect from Headley, Konerko maybe will hit 10-12 more dingers than Headley and get a lower batting average and less runs scored. In your need for a 3B by trading a bench hitter (meaning anything you could possibly lose is moot when it's sitting on the bech), it makes entire sense for you to make this trade if the other manager is willing.

      • I have Headley in a 12team H2H also so full disclosure I think Headley is good value. His power may be down a little vs last years big numbers but he's 27/28 yrs old so I'm optimistic that he cud be maturing and the regression shouldn't be huge. Konerko is a dependable bat no doubt but he's 37/38 this year (??) and I think his numbers will start to tail off (they're starting to peak last year too). If 3B is a need, I think this is a decent trade for u. Plus Headley swipes some bases AND if Padres really suck, I can see him getting trade to a contender (Konerko not so much)

    • Konerko for Headley would be a good deal for you. Then when your other guys come back you could deal one for help at another position
