Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
I'm in a H2H 12 team league with standard cats. The team I drafted is full of power and BA but sorely lacking in SB ability. I've tried to engage in some trades but none of the other league managers are willing to work anything out (or they over inflated the worth of their player). My only option at this point is to hit up the FA market. I believe that the two best choices are Coco Crisp or Aaron Hicks. Crisp doesn't offer much with the exception of SB so I am loath to pick him up. Hicks has decent potential (maybe 10HR, 25SB isn't out of the realm of possibility) but he is untested at the major league level. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome. Thanks.
What players have you tried to trade for? Ben Revere, Brett Gardner, and Angel Pagan could be cheap. Gardner because everyone thinks the Yanke will suck (but Gardner will still steal 40) Revere because he offers no power at all, Pagan just because I wanted a third name to put with Gardner and Revere as an option. If you can't get any off them, I would go with Hicks. I had a similar problem in one of my leagues, full of power and average but terrible on steals, and I picked Marte off waivers and traded for Pagan. If you can get Billy Hamilton, he could boost your steals late.

I tried to trade for all three of those guys by offering various trades that included Vogelsong, Beltre, Swisher, and Nelson Cruz...nobody bit. Billy Hamilton is still an option but I've already got Will Meyers and Profar in the NA slot so I don't have the roster space to stash to wait for the callup. I'm thinking that Hicks is my best bet since he's batting lead off.
Tough spot your are in. MLB is tougher on unproven players more than any major sport.
At this time Twins have Hicks as #1 Cf on depth chart so even though he is a rookie he has earned the right to be there.
For time being pick him up, he has had a good spring and was decent in minors.'
Answer me this.

Thanks for your input, its appreciated.
To answer your question, I would say keep Scherzer. Since you are in a H2H league you can afford to punt the saves category for a few weeks. The closer role is easily the most volatile in the game so its very likely you'll be able to pick up closers as the season wears on. Scherzer is going to have a solid season and will net you a lot of wins simply because of the offense in the Tigers defense.

I have Coco in one league and Hicks in another. Coco should have a great year sitting atop a strong Oakland offense. He's good for 10+HR 40SB 90+Runs...Hicks has to prove he can do it...but all indications are he will get every opportunity. I had Eaton and when went down I picked Hicks off the wire.
Thanks for all the replies everyone, lots of great suggestions. Aoki and Span are already taken but I haven't targeted them in any trade offers so I'll have to investigate that. I think I'll drop Myers since he's pretty blocked up in the Tampa Bay system and stash Billy Hamilton instead. In the meantime I'll grab Hicks while I wait to see if any of my new trade offers go through. Thanks for all the responses!
