Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
i did a 12 team draft last night and i didint finsih it due to a family emergency, when i check it this morning i didint get a catcher.. I was just offered this trade, i give up trumbo and cespedes, for j montero, james shields and fernando rodney.., trumbo was my 4th rd pick and cespedes was my 6th rd pick.. j montero was his 10th, shields 12th and rodney 14th..
here is my roster and tell me if i should make the deal or trade them away
2b B phillips
cf a jackson
util j bruce
A DE AZA
as you can see all my bench players are outfielders and 2 1b and a 3b.. it helps me in knowing that i get an ace in shields and helps out my staff and rodney in the rp role, but im not sure how j montero is going to do this yr and also he is a suspension risk due to his supposedly recent involvement with ped's.
i did put a waiver claim in for jeremy hellickson so im hoping to get him and also put a claim in on josh reddick...
am i giving up to much or should i make the deal or should i try to trade someone for j montero.. there isnt any good catchers on the waiver wire other then alex avila and jp arenciba
Do not do the trade. Try to trade an OF for a middling catcher. Crawford and Eaton should pick up someone like AJ Pierzinski and a low end pitcher. Or just pick a pitcher off the waiver wire and do a two-for-one trade.
1) That is a stupid trade.
2) It doesn't matter where anybody was picked...all that matters is how they perform.
3) There are plenty of catchers in the FA pool in a 12 team league. There should be 15-16 starting MLB catchers in the FA pool. Drop your worst bat and add one.
You can pretty much drop anybody on your bench except Willingham and Morse and start adding players that can contribute to your woeful team.
My advise would be to not walk away in the middle of a draft...If this is a 1 year league, I don't think it matter much what you do, but you don't need to be ADDING hitters at this point. I would try to package some of your depth for a catcher, and just stream SP's unless you get a good offer
