      In any league that adds hitting and pitching categories, pitching value declines. Why? Your league adds holds and OPS. Every hitter can add to the OPS category - not true of pitchers and holds.

      Middlebrooks will help OPS. He will also give solid production in R's, HR's, RBI's, BA, and is therefore a 5 category guy.

      Harper is a pitcher I like a lot but is a 4-category guy. Basically, any hitter who can produce HR's and a decent BA is going to have more value than all but a monster-stud SP'er.

        I realize that and its my main reservation behind giving up Middlebrooks. The problem is I have a need for SP (especially young SP) and I currently also have Cabrera and Longoria (we play 3 utl spots so they are all in the lineup).

        SP due gain some value back because the demand is always higher than the supply in this league, but that's kind of hard for me to quantify. I know he won't add and a bigger deal is unlikely to work out between us.

        It's hard to find someone with both an obvious need at 3B that actually has young pitching available, and my only other obvious trade bait would be a closer. But most managers in this league would rather punt saves then pay a premium for a closer so I was hoping to swap Middlebrooks for a SP and then move Rafael Betancourt for a UTL player.

        Harvey is a year younger and is about a year behind in experence and middlebrooks will be a real value before Harvey will be although Harvey will be ok value this year but I wouldn't get your hopes up yet but if pitching is what you need then It's alright to give that up.
