Jones is nice, the best player you name here, but not by that much over Trumbo... especially accounting for aforesaid 3B eligibility and LA's acquisition of Hamilton will also get Trumbo better pitch selection (in theory). So Trumbo+Willingham is pretty nice return for Jones, in particularly if you are able to compensate for the spees somehow at another position. It really boils down to the scarcity and competitiveness of your league plus your roster configuration... ie. who you have at 3B and the other OF positions. BTW, Trumbo may very well qualify at 1B as well, boosting his value even more.
Hard to say without looking at your line-up or your format. Dynasty? Keeper? If so, how many?
But if you want power first last and foremost, 2 guys that can hit over 30 HR for Jones is a good deal.
Slappytheclown, in Yahoo leagues you only need 5 starts for position eligibility. So in Yahoo Trumbo should retain 3B eligibility to go with his OF one. He does lose 1B eligibility this year though. And will probably lose 3B after this season.
does 8 games started make trumbo 3b eligible for this year?
we need more information about league. in smaller leagues stars are more valuable, like jones. in deeper leagues (16-20 teams) depth can be important as the waiver wire is weak.
assuming this is a standard 12 team league, it's a fair trade. It's probably a trade I would make on the trumbo side if I got hit with an injury, like longo out at 3b last year.
