Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
5x5 Standard Roto. My current keepers are: CarGo, Pujols, Longoria, Kershaw, Adam Jones
Who should be my 6th keeper?
It's def between Kipnis and Hill... i'd take hill because he plays in a better ball park with a better offense so he's more likely to have better run production numbers and even if his BABIP regresses to his career norm he's still gonna hit .270 with more power than Kipnis and he won't hurt you in SB's. Basically go with the guy with more power because SB's a readily available on the waiver wire.
Take the best value regardless of position. You have a draft, free agency, and trading to use to fill needed positions. The guy I would draft first of that group is Alex Gordon. Keep him and see how the draft plays out. If nothing else you are deep in the outfield for trade bait and it's not the deep position it used to be.
I'd take the safe pick in Gordon. Only one I believe in maintaining numbers he's posted already. Upton in Atl may be lucky to hit 12hrs in the NL East. Hill? his bad years are regrettable!
Kipnis is the only other one I'd consider. All depends where you want to be between 2b or in the OF.
I'd go Goldy or Panda. I agree with guy that said go with best players cause you have re-draft as well. And those two, even if you don;t need them, someone else will and would give you the highest trade value I think.
Kipnis fell off badly end of last season so I'm not a believer I admit. Hill is up and down. I'd be happy to go with a Josh Rutledge like guy at 2B and keep the bigger Panda/Goldy names.
And if you like to gamble with young talent and decided to take a chance with say Goldy, just imagine the kind of trade package you could get for Pujols.
Going against the grain a bit here... but A.Hill is the best value you will get at 2B. Kipnis was absolutely terrible the second half of the season. Sure he has decent potential, but you want your team to try and win this year right? If so, go with Hill.
I'd keep Kipnis,he has more upside than Hill, and the Indians finally have a decent manager that knows what he's doing. And,Hill was probably roiding during his huge career year a while back.
(Plus Cleveland has added some new proven power hitters to protect, and drive in Kipnis.)
I'm a fan of Gordon over Kipnis. I've said it before and I'll tell you now. 2b to target this year is Josh Rutledge of Colorado. He's a younger version in Coors Field of Brandon Phillips. He'll bat Leadoff and Tulo/Cargo can knock him in. I'd think a line on Rutledge would stand at .277/.336/.392 with 82-100Runs 14-18HRs 14-27SBs. How much different is Kipnis?
I'd love to keep Panda in this case, but I read this cat looks like he could be starting for the 9er's O-line. If you have time to decide and can watch his weight, then that would be helpfull. An in shape Panda all day over these other guys. Then I'd go Kipnis cuz 2bagger is shalloooooow and then Goldy. Oh and peep Bill James' projected line for Goldy, if you believe that then you have your answer.
