Help me with keepers for next season. Keep 5.
Adrian Gonzalez (1B, OF)
Miguel Montero (C)
Matt Kemp (OF)
Matt Holliday (OF)
Andrew McCutchen (OF)
Allen Craig (1B, 2B, OF)
Justin Verlander (SP)
Thanks! (Verlander is definitely a lock.)
Tough choices. Lets get Verlander out of the way as a top 5 pitcher, and your only pitcher.
2. Andrew McCutchen
3. Matt Kemp
4. Adrian Gonzalez
This gives you two big outfileders and a solid first baseman.
For number 5, I'm gonna side with Allen Craig (especially if he still qualifies for 2nd in your league, but he might not next season). Holliday is great an is a lock for 25+ HR's and 100 RBI's, but people have been comparing Craig to Holliday for a few years now and this year everyone has gotten a chance to see why. He's 4 years younger than Holliday and with Berkman a free agent next year, first base is all his.
I have Miguel Montero and while he has put up very good numbers the past two years, you can't justify keeping him over any of the other players listed. Also considering you only keep 5 players, odds are you can get him back or someone just as good like maybe a Wilin Rosario or Yadier Molina.
Def. JV. Agon Kemp and McCutch. Now to the hard part Craig or Holliday. Well does Agon get RF elidgibility next year? Does Craig get 2B elidigibility? If Agon get RF elidgibility or Craig gets 2B elidigiblity next year go Craig. If Agon and Craig are both 1B elidigibility next year id go Holliday over Craig
McCutchen, Kemp & Verlander are automatic. Adrian Gonzalez was down on the power but the rest of his numbers were money so keep him.
With only 5 keepers and the catcher position being deep I'd let go of Montero.
Between Holliday and Craig I'd go with Craig. He's 4 years younger and everyone has been comparing him to Holliday for years, but his numbers last year were more in line with what you would get from Joey Votto. I have both but if I had to choose between the two I'd go Craig in a second.
