Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
10 team 5x5 scoring. forst 5 rounds are keeper rounds then rds 6-22 we field the rest of the roster. I do not have a 7,8,9, or 10th rd pick
keeping all that in mind...pick 5 keepers
Tulo, Votto, Braun, Longo. Then choose your favorite pitcher. I don't think you go wrong with any of those guys. The only guys I wouldn't even consider on this list is Hosmer and Encarnacion (because you have better options).
Thanks guys. I'm looking at keeping Votto, Bruan, Longo and then two pitchers. Even though our trade deadline has passed we allow offseason trading, so I am looking to move Tulo for some picks. He may the best SS when he is on the field but who knows how often that will be. I have a potential deal for the offseason to move CC and Tulo for Verlander and picks. Which then makes my pitching selection that much more interesting.
I am surprised that no one really like Cueto. He has one of the best if not the best ERAs in the league over the past 300 or so IP. I think that he will continue to get better and plays on a team that will win and if the keep Chapman in the pen is even a bigger plus. I'd like to see his K's rise a little bit but that's nit-picking. Right now pitching wise I am really debating between Cain Cueto and Wainwright. I think Wainwright will be fine, and truthfully he was a prior keeper of mine before the TJ surgery. and it looks like he is super-close to pre-TJ form.
Encarnacion is a borderline keeper for me, but in a 10 team league i think he goes back. Hosmer is interesting ,but with Votto, not a glaring need to keep him.
Wow. I am shocked at the responses here. The first 4 are pretty easy: Votto, Tulo, Braun, Longo. These shouldn't even be in question. When you can keep the best SS, arguably the best OF and 1B, and the 2nd best 3B, you keep them; you'd be foolish not to keep those 4. For the final keeper, I would go Cain.
Braun, Votto, Longo, Cain, Cueto. The only other player i'd possibly consider is Wainwright, but i'd rather take the healthy, producing arms in Cain and Cueto. Safer bet.
I don't trust Encarnacion long-term, Tulo is too injury-prone, Hosmer has a high ceiling but its too risky to keep him given his current production, and CC is old and over-rated.
