i can't seem to cut ties with this guy. He's shown he's capable of 3.75 ERA, 1.30 WHIP ratios, a decent K/9, and now that he's in Pittsburgh, he may finally evolve from a 10 game winner to a 12-14 game winner.
I'm not proclaiming he'll be great next year, but he's got decent stuff, and i can keep him with a super-late 18th round pick. I really do think he could pay off if kept at that price, hoping that this year is just a bad fluke.
any one else out there share these feelings, or am i crazy to keep him rostered? he's been absolutely KILLING me lately.
I know. The production isn't there now, but before this year, he's been consistently fantasy relevant for 5+ years, and moving to Pittsburgh only increases his value. I'm not saying he'll be elite, but if I choose to look at this as a down year, an outlier given the rest of his career's stats, he could easily be worth an 18th round pick next year. 3.50 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 12-14 wins is definitely rosterable in a 14-team league. What I didn't realize though is that he's older than I thought. I thought he was 31-32 years old, not 33 years old.
