    Middle-Tier Pitchers

    Buerhle and Edwin Jackson. Are they for real or am I better off dropping both and adding some quality middle relievers to balance out my ratios and pick up some Ks?

    • At this point in the season middle relievers are not going to help your ratios and K's all that much. This is not a strategy that one can implement 2/3 of the way into the season and expect much results. Sure you might pick up a spot or two but the effects will be much less than if you did this from the beginning. Plus, it takes a lights out, high strikeout pitcher to make much of a difference at all and those higher level middle relievers, much like Brad Lincoln, are all scooped up by managers wise enough to start this strategy much earlier. You will likely not find much in the FA at this point in the season to make it worth your while. A good strategy to start the season but not something you start at the beginning of August.

    • Jared Hughes of the Pirates has also been pretty dominant this season.

    • Edwin Jackson is definitely worth keeping. But Buehrle is probably dispensable, Vinnie Pestano has been great.
