Should I trade Trout and Lawrie for Votto in a keeper league?

What type of league are you in? How many teams? H2H or Roto? What rules are applied to keepers? Are they slotted in the round they were drafted? Are they moved up? But without knowing any of those questions I's say keep Trout and Lawrie.

      1b) d ortiz
      2b) j kipnis
      3b) b lawrie
      ss) h ramirez
      of) j upton
      of) r braun
      of) j hamilton
      util) m trout
      util) c rasmus

      bench: altuve, seager, saltalamachia

this is my offense its a real good offense but i have been putting it together for 6 years, i got braun off the waiver wire with the #1 waiver back when he was a rookie, i drafted upton, i drafted hanley, i aquired hamilton this year in a trade which i traded stanton away, i grabbed kipnis late in the draft this year, and i traded latos and swisher for trout and peavy this year in the beginning of the season. So ive made some good moves. Anyhow can you help with this trade?

      • Is this a Keeper league or a Dynasty league? Keeper meaning you only keep a certain amount of players each year (4-6 on average), Dynasty meaning you keep whoever you want and generally only have a draft for rookies or guys that ended the season off-roster but are expected to break out the next year for whatever reason.

It's sounding like a Dynasty league, in which case I wouldn't take that trade. Your biggest concern is at 1B (replacing Papi in a year or two), yea, but I really wouldn't give up a 3B and an OF, especially of Trout and Lawrie's quality, for what is usually the deepest position. So many studly rookie 1B's come through the rookie draft in Dynasty leagues. Votto himself is a perfect example. And if Braun keeps 1B eligibility next year (maybe that's a given? sorry, only know him by his stats, I don't follow NL teams much) then you can always slide him down there, Trout/Rasmus to OF, and stick a BN guy (or anyone else for that matter) in that UTIL spot.

I still probably wouldn't take it in a keeper league, although it's a little more attractive since you can't keep the entire roster anyways.

      • I'd think I would pass on that trade. Trout and Lawrie are going to be great for a lot of years.

      • No, I definitely wouldn't do this in a keeper league, Just Trout for Votto wouldn't be too unfair.

Just wondering, what was the stanton deal you made last season? Stanton for Hamilton straight up?
