HOLDS NOT SAVES!!!
I'm looking for some incite on getting holds moving forward. I have two shallow hold leagues and I continue to pick up great 8th inning guys who, unfortunately for me, keep getting promoted or are rumored to be soon. Tyler Clippard was great, so was Chapman (clearly kept him for saves), Ryan Cook was doing great but now might get moved to the 9th. Any thoughts on who would work well for this odd position?

Romo is done with Saves now that Casilla is back.
It's good advice, even if he has no sense of humor. -
Looks like Timm U has some anger issues.
Look at Texas middle men. -
Since setup is such a volatile position, what I do when I need to get some holds is sort for holds in the past 14 days under the player tab. This gives you an idea of who the current, primary guys are.

The only problem is I'm limited to two roster moves a week and I hate wasting them on a RP for holds. I do like to use the "past 14 sort" though for pretty much every roster move.

It happens there are tons of holds guys to pick from if your taking 8th inn set up men they are the first promoted to Closer on stuggling teams most of the time

Yep I'll be sure to pick up all three. Robertson is still on the DL atleast until next weekend. Romo has three saves this week, exactly what this thread is talking about avoiding. Great advice toolbox. I'm done with your nonsense.

Joel Peralta and Bastardo have been solid most of the year, and likely to remain as set up men.

I like Bastardo. I have concerns that Peralta will end up getting less appearances once Farnsworth comes back. I know he's just starting a rehab assignment Monday so it will be a while but with the success of Rodney this season will Farnsworth get the 8th and Peralta will end up a situational pitcher getting only a batter or two each week?

now go pick up venters, robertson, and romo like i said...

you didn't "misspell" anything...you didn't have a clue on how to use a word...big difference.
-
I simply misspelled a word which turned out to be a fairly funny pun for a few people to exploit. You butchered a cliche indicating a far more tenuous grasp of the english language my friend.

robertson grilli hernandez venters adams are some examples. i don't play with holds league but it would seem that players on team with a closer that has a vice grip on the closers role help since there is no chance for them to be promoted to closers.
