I've dropped him already myself. He's not the type of pitcher guys will stash just to have him. Keep an eye on the DL progress and pick him back up before he comes back if you want. If you don't have a DL spot for him he is just clogging up your roster. (this opinion changes in a very deep league where you may not have a worthy replacement, anything 12 tm and under you should be fine to drop.)
