Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
Exactly how is this innings cap gonna work? I'm in H2H league, and he was recently put on the trading block for Homers and AVG, I wanted to know if he'd be helpful in the playoffs with that Cap. I he might I could deal Sandoval for him.
As of right now, no cap exists. He may have no limit. No one knows., anyone that says 160 or said the nats said so is guessing or lieing
It's a gamble, clearly no question.
My belief was and has been, that the Nats would be in the playoff hunt, so if you are legit this yr, why not throw him, shut him down mid-season, then let him finish his IP out at the end of the season when you are fighting for the playoffs.
Once he had the little bicep issue, then it became a topic though. I think it took that for them to discuss it because it gives them an excuse to most for shutting him down.
Alot of ppl don't believe you should tinker with a young arms innings, just throw him his 160 no matter what and be done.
I really when it comes right down to it think he'd have to have any little thing going on(arm fatigue, a bump here or there ..just something) for them to go ahead and def shut him down mid-season for a bit so they could use that as their reasoning.
but either way, i think they do want to do that and assumming they can stick where they are at for another month or so it seems pretty smart to just let him sit for 5 or 6 turns if you have a 3-4 game lead in the division and let him pitch down the stretch.
Also, just a thing that I think has some relevance to the situation is, they were pretty adament about waiting on Harper, has to go to AAA yada yada, but they realized we are in the race, we need bats and brought him up. Obv a pitcher is way different than a hitter, but i'm just saying they backed off what they said on him all along.
Depends on whether or not the Nats are in the playoff hunt. If they are, expect a lot of 5 or 6 inning games or even skipped starts. If they start to fade, he'll probably get shutdown around the 160-170 inning mark.
Long story short, be a Nats fan if you want to get him.
