in a standard h2h 12 team league which im basing my point since you didn't mention any added categories or league settings, there will always be non closers with good era/whip guys to pick up. a few of them so far are
all these guys are available in most leagues in a 12 team format but there are NO closers available to pick up in most competitive 12 team leagues. if both ogando and thayer were available in my league i wouldn't mind adding thayer to get some saves in while street is hurt for a month plus while risking someone else picking up ogando. and if/when street comes back i can drop thayer and look to add maybe another closer if one is available and if not llok to add a batter or a good relief pitcher since there are many available. i jut don't like the idea of having a relief pithcher who can't rack up saves in a h2h league.
ogando is valuable, but if you are desperate for saves there are worse moves to make.
other relivers like cashner, pestano, etc., are probably going to be available on the waiver wire anyway
well genius if you knew the answer why ask? also street is not due to comeback for more than two weeks so thayer will still be closing and even when street is back to resume throwing he will still need to rehab and that could take more time. yes ogando helps with era whip but if my league doesn't count holds i find no need to keep someone who isn't closing. thayer hasn't allowed a run yet and has been nailing down the saves so far so yes i would take thayer and if/when street comes back to being the closer i will drop thayer and add another closer or a reliever just like ogando

Lol I look to trade with morons like you all the time. I traded Dee Gordon while he had a 10 game hitting streak. I traded Janssen after getting a save. It's comical how much some people value a player's performance over a week. It's a 162 game season!!! I go with the guys who do it all 162 games and let the fools take the guy on a streak. Thayer is a 30 year old AAA player.... you have to be a fool to want him.
Thayer is only going to be the closer for 2 more weeks. Ogando pitches a ton of innings for a reliever and posts incredible ERA/WHIP/K numbers. Probably a few wins too being the Rangers main reliever.
I know I asked, but sorry anyone who thinks Thayer wins this trade is a moron.
