Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
So the team getting the 3 players would be able to drop Trevor Cahill for Moore, and drop Vernon Wells for Murphy, by putting Murphy at 3rd, moving Martin Prado to the OF and using another CF rather than Wells.
So there would be some minor positional upgrades with the trade. In response to the standings question: The team is near the back of the pack in the standings and could use some help.
Still not sure about the trade, but thanks for input.
I think this depends on what the team needs are for the team trading away Ellsbury.
Downs is a nice handcuff, so I see some value there. I think Moore is an unknown at this point, and Murphy is okay, better than what is on the waiver wire, with the added position eligibility bonus.
Basically can the Ellsbury team ride out his DL stint? Are they a top team now? If they are near the cellar I'd be more apt to trade Ellsbury then if I thought they could ride it out.
I'm an Ellsbury owner, and if I got that offer I'd be seriously insulted. Yeah... he's hurt, but I'm still expecting better than 20/20 out of him with 300+ BA. Sending an Ellsbury owner an offer like that would likely close any opportunity for future trades with him.
