Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
This guy is pitching pretty well so far....too bad he plays for Pit and will get no run support or i could see him winning 14-16 games this year (with respectable ERA, WHIP, and K's)....
whats everyone elses thoughts?
You are correct. He is solid in WHIP, K's. He is healthy so far and looks very good.
Wins are not a pitching category. It is a team category. Pitchers can pitch brilliantly and not get a win (Matt Cain, Cliff Lee??), or pitch a brutal game and pick up a garbage win (Darvish's first start, anyone?).
It is a mistake to obtain pitchers for wins, a category they really do not control. Evaluate pitchers based on WHIP, ERA, and K's, or even better, upon K rate, BABIP, FB/GB rates, and health.
In every one of those apart from health, Bedard is a solid addition.

thats my point...i was short a pitcher in a super deep 16 team league and had added him as an "icing on the cake" type thing and some of my friends in the league were saying "hes garbage" and "why even roster him".....they are just jealous since i got him for free basically lol
