You know I am tired of hearing the lame excuse that the all star voting reflects ho the fans want to see in the game. There are two kinds of voters; the first vote for the players the voters believe most deserve to be honored. this is great and would be perfect if we didn't have the second group of voters who vote only for familiar, popular or home team names. the latter is what most of us gripe about considering the biggest offenders are the yankees, although the Red sox 9for whom i root for along with the Mets) get some votes this way, too. one last thing; jeter is a very good player but he is not an immortal great as we are hearing on the radio. he is not one of the 10 greatest yankees of all time, nor is he one of the five greatest shortstops of all time. He,like Phil Rizzuto was, is a very good player fortunate enough to play with some bought stars to lead the yankees to guarantted playoffs and wonderful offensive stats.
