I'm in a 12 team head to head non-keeper league this season and I'm currently in 4th place.
Another manager in the league, currently in 6th place, is unsatisfied with his OF (Adam Lind, Jason Bay, Jay Bruce, Pat Burrell and Delmon Young). He is expecting to trade his SS Jose Reyes as well as Bruce to another manager in exchange for Curtis Granderson and SP David Price.
That will leave him with recent pickup Erick Aybar at SS, and he's asked me if I'd be willing to trade Tulo in exchange for Robinson Cano and SP Ricky Nolasco. I'm currently playing Ben Zobrist at 2B. At SS, apart from Tulo, I have Angel Sanchez and the soon to return JJ Hardy.
I have the sense that his other trade is dependant upon my accepting his offer, and he hasn't made a move yet. Frankly, I think he'd be better served by picking up a couple decent OF from the FA pool, but I'm not him.
Would I be crazy to make this deal or crazy not to?
Do it. Buy low/sell high. Tulo's value will never be higher, at least this season. Cano is every bit the hitter, but will contribute nothing in the steals department. Keep in mind that Tulo's value for you as a fantasy owner takes a hit every time he's on a road trip.
As for Nolasco, he has been derailed by injuries and poor fielding behind him ever since what looked like a break out in the second half of 2008.
