Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
I have an empty spot after doing a 2-for-1 trade. Which batter would you pick up?
Leaning toward Rios or Hosmer. Thoughts?
Hosmer, I have watched him lately and even when he makes an out, its the hardest hit out ever. He lines it all over the place and has great plate disciple. He could also swipe ya 10-15 bases by the end. Rios wont get you the average Hosmer will, but he will give ya a little bit more pop. I like Hosmer overall though.
who did the other guy drop to take your trade? whoever it is, they will have to clear waivers, but it's always worth a look. in fact, if you're making a 2 for 1, it never hurts to ask who they're dropping to see if you can get the player thrown in if it's someone you might want. it saves you from using a waiver pick if it's really someone worth getting.
To answer your question, I like Rios too. I think he will pick it up at some point in the next couple of weeks, and be a decent producer across the board. I also like Mark Reynolds too...one of the top producers in baseball at 3B, but gets a bad rap for strikeouts and low average. If you're in a league that doesn't count strikeouts, and you have a good stable of high average hitters, you can justify picking him up for the elite power he can provide. I say there's no way he hits under .220 again this year, and if he does he is officially our generation's Rob Deer.
People keep asking this. It's an 8 team league. A lot of good free agents have been dropped. I've gotten Gallardo and Soria off the waiver wire. I can't explain the decisions some managers choose to make. Somebody got tired of Rios, and on the FA he sits as a result.
