Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
Well we all know that making the right free agent pickup or waiver wire claim tends to play a significant roll in whether our fantasy team sinks or swims each season. So with that in mind, here is my list of players to keep an eye on or add from your leagues waiver wire pool.
Waiver Wire Pickups
I will continue to update this list each week throughout the season, so feel free to follow along.
Waiver wire : Derik Lee and Maggs Ordonez should I pick them up .. h2h league
ss- A Ram
Of- Soo Choo / Ra Davis / Ellsbury
util- Rollen / Kubel
bn: infante / belt / polanco / span / encarnacion
pickup- D Lee drop Belt
and Maggs drop Kubel
I am in a head to head league. I just put Kendrys Morales on the DL and I going to do the same for Jason Bay. Who do you think would be a better waiver wire pickup right now? Here are my choice: Luke Scott, Jason Kubel, James Loney. Also, some just drop Gordon Beckham and he will be available after April 1, do you think he is worth the ww pickup? I have WW 3. Thanks for your help.

first off, i do think beckham is worth your waiver spot if you dont have proven depth at 2b right now. as for your pickup, i dont really like the trio of scott, kubel or loney. maybe a higher upside guy if someone is available. but if you want one out of those three, i would say kubel as my top choice.
Someone offered me a trade: Jose Reyes for Yovani Gallardo. I get Gallardo. I have Starlin Castro on my beach. This is a roto league with K/BB AND K/9 stats added in for pitching. What do you think?

i do like gallardo a lot with his K rate, but i actually think you can get even more for Reyes. do you have a backup SS behind Castro? cause he is somewhat risky yet even though he is having a hot start right now. i say you can trade Reyes, but get Gallardo and someone else in the deal.
hey .. livan hernandez and justin masterson are on the waiver wire.. the pitchers on my team i wud consider dropping are ted lilly, john danks, ricky nolasco, and brett myers.... im still not sure if i should risk dropping any of these guys.. what do u think?

i like your SPs how you have them. my only drop might be ted lilly, with masterson being the pickup. but i dont see masterson continuing his good pitching very long. his whip stats are terrible as he gives up way too many hits to keep his ERA as low as it is. stick with what you have is my call.
Hey, Hawk. I was wondering if you would mind taking a look at my team? I admittedly enjoy fantasy baseball more when I draft a group of young players with "sleeper" or "breakout" potential. I discovered your site a few days after establishing a list of players I wanted to target in this year's draft, and it was reassuring to see that you had a number of my guy's listed in your "sleeper" and "breakout" categories.
C - Carlos Santana
1B - Joey Votto
2B - Gordon Beckham
SS - Starlin Castro
3B - Pedro Alvarez
OF - Jason Heyward
OF - Drew Stubbs
OF - Adam Jones
UTIL - Prince Fielder
C - J.P. Arencibia
IF - Mike Aviles
OF - Logan Morrison
SP - Clayton Kershaw
SP - Tommy Hanson
SP - Brett Anderson
SP - Jeremy Hellickson
SP - Daniel Hudson
SP - Brandon Morrow

hey Scott, thanks for checking out the site. i can definitely see you went for a bunch of breakout players like you said. im a big fan of a lot of your players, and so far so good with most of them!
if i had to pick one spot for you to look at upgrading if you can find someone cheap right now, i would say that spot would be 3B. but even at that, if Mike Aviles can start hitting the ball well again, he could be huge from his leadoff spot. so i think right now your team is extremely solid all around and i honestly would just stay put for the most part.

i personally am not a big fan of beckett. injury prone and declining ERA and WHIP numbers. his strikeouts are solid yet, and with the Red Sox likely scoring a ton of runs each game this season, Beckett could pile up some cheap wins. i would say yes he is a better investment than Lilly in head to head leagues, but in roto leagues i might go for lilly instead.

Got a high waiver priority and some names on the waiver wire. Any of these names worth my waiver?
I would be dropping a random SP if I were to add any player,

i would say based on position scarcity, i like you adding Stephen Drew. your OF looks good so i think Stanton and Hart aren't worth your waiver spot. but if you feel Starlin can continue what he has been doing, then you could hold your waiver and just try to pick up Drew as a free agent. either way, i do think having Drew on your roster would be better than an average pitcher.
