H2H league. 5 x 5 categories.
We keep 17 & I am down to my last keeper choice.
Here are the options:
Bobby Abreu (Weak in OF with only Kemp & Bruce)
Starlin Castro (I have HanRam, Pedroia, & Prado)
Ian Desmond (I have HanRam, Pedroia, & Prado)
J.A.Happ (I have CC, J.Johnson, Latos, J.Garcia, & Hellboy)
M. Minor (I have CC, JJ, Latos, Garcia, & Hellboy)
J.Pierre (Weak in OF with only Kemp & Bruce)
Thanx for your help!!
Man, that is a tough choice! Pitching always waivers from year to year, so Happ or Minor could both be solid choices here, but Desomnd and Castro are intriguing in that you really have no idea where their ceiling is yet. People are always looking for MI though, so you might go that route and then flip one of them in a combo deal for an upgrade somewhere. My personal opinion would be to keep Happ or Minor, but needs of your team dictate more than my opinion. Good to see you again man!
Personally I'd dismiss Abreu and Happ right away. They're solid players but Abreu is likely starting the decline phase and you want no part of that.
Happ is a replaceable arm in your rotation, you could likely grab him in the draft or a pitcher of higher upside like Bud Norris.
I really, really like the power/speed combo that Desmond brings to the table, so he's at the top of my list, but with a weak OF, and only marginal threats, Pierre is a valuable piece to the puzzle....yeah he may be getting long in the tooth, but you can't argue with the SB.
Castro and Minor both have strong upsides, and Castro could be a top 10 SS by the end of the season, but he still ranks behind Desmond.
Minor could likely be re-drafted so I'd let him go.
Ultimately it comes down to the entire make up of your team, but I'd lean toward to Pierre, since you already have Hanley....though I'd be looking to see if you could make a deal or two before the season starts.
I'd keep Castro, he looks like he'll be really good in the future. You could probably trade him for some good value, or if Hanley ever has to switch positions in the future, then you'll have Castro waiting in the wings.
