Dont get me wrong, first base is deep and has some of the best offensive players in the game. I am saying 2nd base is deep as well for its offensive range. It will never match what an average 1st baseman can do. I guess its just me, but i never worried about taking the best at a certain position. Like the arguement with earlier this year about taking Joe Mauer so early. Yes he is a great hitting catcher but compared to everyone else is offensive numbers is in the middle of the pack.

I am not knocking Cano, i had him on a few of my teams and Cano did have a great yet, but like i said before he set or matched career highes in 3 out of 5 of the typical H2H categories. I think he will be a productive hitter in the future but i don't expect him to constantly set career highs every season. And i wouldnt say it was an off year for Jeter or Tex. the only category that was down from what they typically do was their batting average. And yes ARod did miss a month. But that is nothing new, he hasnt played a full season since 2007.

I just see Howard hitting 40plus home runs, driving in 130, and 100 plus runs scored in 2011,2012,2013 and to me that is why i would keep him. That's all i am going to write on this subject, i am not trying to change anyone's mind, just give a different perspective on the issue.

Okay man, I have to stop you right there. Cano is in no way a triple crown threat. Considering he has yet to come close to the league lead in rbi or hrs that is a huge stretch. Cmon man, you are talking triple crown? Cano is 28, in his prime, so yes he could hit 30 hrs a year and his rbi total should go up. I think he has the ability to win a batting title and he is a possibility to lead the league in rbi. The power is not there though. Cano is not a 40 hr guy and that is what it takes to be a contender for the hr crown. In the AL, you are looking at guys like Longo, A-Gone,Cabrera and Hamilton as solid contenders for the hr title. I also think that guys like Lind, Tex, Morales, Cruz, Bautista, Dunn and a few others all have more power than Cano. Honestly, Cano is great but talking triple crown is retarded for anyone other than Cabrera or Pujols is pretty ridiculous. Temper your enthusiasm here. Also remember, the rest of the Yankee lineup is past it's prime.

This is true. Going into last season, this was the average line of the top 15 2B. .288/83/15/63/13. Only Utley exceeded the average in all 5 cats. I haven't updated the numbers yet but I'm sure Utley still exels in all 5 cats. However Cano, Kinsler and Uggla have closed the gap. Also, Pedroia, Phillips and Roberts exceeded the average in 3 cats. Then also you have Hill, Zobrist, K. Johnson. That's 10 above average 2B.

By the way, while Howard exceeds the average 1B line in only 3 cats, he leads the MLB in HR and RBI averaging 42 and 123
