Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
As my default profile indicates, I'm bored so I will try to answer draft and trade talk questions as best as I can. Or I can just give you opinions. Send them here before I find something else to do.
You can go a lot higher than Butler. Latos has pushed his value to the likes of Gonzo, Fielder, and at least for this year, Konerko. Try those names including Youk, Huff (there's a surprise), or Loney. Morneau if his fantasy owners are scared he won't be back soon enough or believes he'll be affected by the concussion for the remainder of the year.
Votto, Pujols, Cabrera, and Howard are off the table.
Realistically, you should be able to net Konerko, Loney, or Huff. Smaller names with big seasons. Owners love to hang on the names of Gonzo, Youk, and Fieler.
Worst comes to worst, you can and should easily net Butler or the lesser extent Ortiz and Reynolds both of whom I highly not recommend for Latos.
Speaking of trading latos from earlier. What I really couls use is another 1B (I like to have 2 eligible players for each position and I only have 1 1B).
What type is 1B could I get straight up for Latos? My only 1B is Prado.
What about Billy Butler? or could I go higher?
The guy who kills the deal is Putz, not that Aardsma is any better but he gives you valuable Saves.
Is Enright good? Yes. Are the d-BAcks good? NO
Is Jurgens good? Yes. Are the Braves good? YES
So now you're down to Dunn and Youk. Youk wins, less power but more overall production.
I lean towards A because of the overall, balanced value. I'll agree if you take B because Youk single handedly makes that deal for you.

I don't believe the Pads will limit his innings to a point of completely shutting him down. They are in the thick of a Divisional Race and you don't sit down your ace if you're about to win the damn thing. If they shut Latos down, then I will lose all respect for the Padres organization.
If you are concerned, attempt to trade him for established aces like Oswalt or Verlander, or try trading him to measurable young pitchers like Kershaw and Danks plus 1 more player.

Tough because when healthy, Cruz is a top 20 player. But, the key is his health. If you can spare parting ways with Posey at the C position, then yes, pull the trigger because Gonzo and Werth will consistently produce without lingering questions to health or hot streak (which Posey is on at the moment).
I need to drop someone to Get Beckett off the DL, leaning towards Medlen
