Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
14 Team, Head-to-Head League.
Team A (Currently 1st Place in Division 1, 1st Overall) Gets:
Jimmy Rollins (DL)
Team B (Currently 2nd Place in Division 1, 3rd Overall) Gets:
Team A currently has middle infield problems with Gordon Beckham and Raphael Furcal who have been, for lack of a better term, terrible. Team A has James Loney to move from UTIL to first base and solid bench hitters to slot in at utility. Team A is looking for hits and steals (particularly if replacing Furcal).
Team B has Troy Glaus at first after losing Kendry Morales. Currently has a middle infield of Martin Prado and Ben Zobrist. Team B is looking for a power bat at first base for when Glaus inevitably cools considerably.
Team B has offered to throw in a bit part--Juan Pierre, Chase Headley, or Giovanny Soto (although Team A has Joe Mauer) if it would get the job done.
Both teams are a little cautious about trading within the division considering we are each others' main competition (the third place in the division is 12 games out of first). Team B is one game behind Team A.
All-in-all, would you consider the trade fair as it stands, or should Team B throw in one of the bit parts? Which side would you rather have, or does this suit each team's needs fairly?
I should have said this before, but OBP instead of AVG. Also, we count Errors, Double Plays Turned, and Outfield Assists for all fielders and Extra-Base Hits as a category.
Holds is an additional pitching category and the other two (shutouts, no hitters) is unlikely to matter with the two closers.
I don't think one of the bit parts is any better than the other. It depends on Team A's needs. Seems Pierre would be best if steals are an issue, otherwise, it doesn't really matter, just a matter of preference.
Rollins worries me for the rest of the year. He is a speed guy and the calf injury, if it lingers at all throguh the season could really screw with his ability to produce.
If you are getting Rollins, I would be careful.

Well, the last time that Rollins had little leg injury with the potential to linger, he did win the MVP. Just a reminder. I'm going to wait for one or two more thoughts before I post which side I am.

Thanks for the thoughts. Is there one of the role-players that Team A should ask for specifically? Or is there one of the role-players that Team B should be less than excited to give up?
To me, the trade suits both teams' needs pretty well but it's just a question of hammering out the logistics...or determining that we'd both rather be relatively weak at a position than help out a division opponent (and best friend!)
