Manny Ramirez for Heyward?
I am being offered Manny Ramirez for Heyward......should I sell high on the rookie after opening day?
-
I would say that Heyward puts up
80 RBI
85 R
17 HR
10 SB
.310 AVG
So if you think that Manny will put up better numbers take him -
I think Heyward and Manny will have close to the same numbers at years end...

Heyward is gonna get moved to the middle of the order in no time... I love how people just keep refusing to see what's going on with this kid... Every step of the way... But to get to the point of this post... Both are gambles in terms of what your going to get.. So I would rather have the kid who wants to be out there busting his ass and is playing his heart out rather than the guy at the end of his career who has his 200 million in the bank and just doesn't care

Heyward will put up better numbers than Manny

The thing with Manny is he can go .320, 35, 125, 100 just as easy as he could go .280, 20, 90, 80. If I were going to sell Heyward high I would go for someone who is more of a guarantee in the stat department.

That is a pretty high ceiling and a pretty high floor for Manny Rameriz (or any hitter in baseball). The ceiling for Heyward may be the same but the floor for Heyward...a slump down to a .230 BA and back to the minors by June. If you could get an OF right now (after all the elite talent has been drafted) with a floor of .280/20/90/80...you WOULDN'T do it? You would hold out for more? Show me a player with a higher floor? Hell...that is the floor for Bobby Abreu for the last 12 seasons and some people are saying they would take Justin Upton over Abreu and Upton's floor is way lower than that. Sorry...a reasonable and rational person WILL NOT give him any more than Manny for Heyward.
P.S. - Please list all of the OFs you think have a HIGHER FLOOR than .280/20/90/80. I can only think of three. -
You all do remember this is just a public league right? non keeper. I dont see Heyward a top 25 player his first year. Major league pitching will figure you out and they will adjust to him faster then he will adjust to them.

People still don't get it huh?

Manny seems about right to me. He and Heyward have about the same upside but Manny has the higher floor. Those that think you can do better than Manny are hoping that you are trading with a delusional Braves fan that is holding Ryan Braun. Three words: not gonna happen.
-
Keep Heyward.
-
If you want to sell high on Heyward, you can go higher than Manny.
-
This is a normal public league. I have Sizemore, Crawford and Braun in the OF spots and V. Martinez and Quentin at the UTIL with Heyward on the bench.

I dunno, Manny is pretty high with a high upside. He missed 50 games last year because of his suspension and still put up good numbers. 2 years ago he was a top 5 player. I would do it in a heart beat.

Keeper league or normal public?
