    • you want a complicated league, or a simple one?

    • A good place to start is 3 or 4 keepers.

Be aware that keeping keeper leagues together in the following years is difficult. It takes a lot of work, both running a good league in year 1 and then replacing lost managers in years 2 and onward.

First, you need to insist on email addresses from all managers so that you can send an email invite the next year, which increases the number of returnees.

And because even the best run leagues lose a few managers a year, you need to plan for making it possible for replacement managers to compete fairly by dispersing keepers from the non-returning teams to the new teams. Good keeper leagues I've been in have an informal keeper draft of discarded players on the league message board before the main league draft.

Say it's a four keeper league and 3 teams don't return. You point the new managers to the final rosters of the missing teams and tell them to post a list of 12 keepers they want in order of preference from the missing teams. Using the lists, the Commish then does a snake draft on paper and posts it before the main draft starts.
