Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
I want Mauer. I've offered a couple of trades for Mauer and he denied then countered with this:
My Carpenter/Pence for
Here is my team. Let me know your thoughts if I should trade this away for Mauer:
UT B. Phillips
BN A Jones(Bal)
SP Carpenter, Gallardo, Jurrjens, Wainwright, Dempster, Kershaw, Porcello
RP Hoffman, Capps, Lindstrom, Francisco(DL)
Notable FA SP: Scherzer, Guthrie, Maholm, Bannister, Happ
12 teams, h2h, 5x5 cats
I'm currently in 1st place with a 10 game lead.
you really lose much with Sandoval ... I don't do that unless I really need a catcher. Pablo has 5 HR's in the last 10 days and he is hitting .330 ... its an upgrade, but not worth Carpenter let alone Carpenter and Pence.
I like Sandoval and his multi eligibility. I can use that. As for my OF, I like it. I know Jones may trickle down some, but I am hoping for Quentin to come back strong(hopefully healthy). That is the depth I am hoping for. I am fishy about losing Carp more than I am Pence.

"I want Mauer." That was the first sentence of the post. He will give whatever it takes to get him because he merely "wants" him, not because he needs him. So if you are ok with giving that, then go for it. You have Adam Jones and Quentin when he comes back; however, you probably should just stick with Sandoval.

You give up a top SP and a good OF when you don't have the best OF depth to replace the third best catcher already on your team for the best catcher...not too much of an upgrade and you give up quite a bit...think about it...
