      • If you can find another wallbanger later on I would give it some consideration not that you are lacking that bad. I dont trust Ankiel or his batting avg.so I would just roll the dice with Maybin and see how he does. He has SB and runs at top of the order in that lineup he will score some runs and can hit for power.Gomez is gonna platoon in Minn. with Denard Span so be careful how you use him! You have good pitching but never stop looking or shopping to improve later on in early May perhaps when they start showing signs of being solid after 5-6 starts in free agency. Sherill has had horrible spring and Chris Ray is ready to give him a push so see what happens in early april or how long he keeps his job. If Andrus is available in Tex by chance I would probably take him over Renteria....and my next choice is Felipe Lopez of Ariz who working on his base stealing with Kirk Gibson and is gonna be leading off......good luck and I think you will enjoy your team.,,,,,,,,,,gary

      • Yeah like the players headed to waivers. Like Lopez joining your team as I think he will add speed at top of Ariz order and they are working on his baserunning to get him back to 2-3 years ago.Price is in the minors dont know if your league will let you keep him on bench so look up above you 2 replies and Rebeccas comment for possible SP help. LIke both teams especaily offenses. After season starts keep looking for starters as they are in short supply......if you see somebody in late April or early May who is 4-1 with 3.5 era with 27 Ks and 6 walks,,,,etc........I would probably grab him if he is there. Alot of managers rest on their laurels and dont look for help to tweak or improve their staffs. You have two respectable teams so just always keep looking to imporve especially pitchers........good luck,,,,,,,,,,,,,,gary

      • Above average pitching staff especially with those closers. Keep an eye on Maine to see if he is still struggling like last year. Dont let him hurt your other categories if he cant get untracked ,,,,bench him. Hughes is another one but he has the talent so hopefully he can get untracked with Yanks this time around. Bradley is on fire and tearing up the Cactus League so hope he keeps going for you at Wrigley. He always has hit so I dont know why he would stop now. Really liked seeing Choo down there in utility role.,,,,ever since he was given everyday last summer he has hit hit hit. Made All-Start Team in WBC so he hasnt stopped either!!! When you DL ARod you have some decent power on the bench with Reynolds I hope his BA comes up 40 points to go with his power. Good fill for ARod though!! So when you do that on the 5th I would look at another SP,,,,,,,,,,,If Chris Carpenter is available with STL he appears back and ready.........Atlanta is buzzing about Kawakami as he has 1.86 era with much better control and stuff than DiceK from Japan, Another consideration would be John Lannan who is National's opening day starter as a thought. They have a decent offense with addition of Dunn in the middle so he could bring some cheap wins. Jessie Litsch of Toronto puts up decent numbers with alot of Ks so he is worth a look as well........good luck to you,,,,,,,,,,,gary

I thought I got a balanced team for a 12th pick but what do you think?

      • 2 Replies to MG
      • Yeah you are pretty well balanced on offense and have more than enough relievers. Hang on to Wheeler as I think he will eventually take over closers role. You can let Putz roll but I do know last summer when he came back he was hitting 90-91 in the gun versus 98 as closer prior to injury. So lets see what 6 more months rest did for him to see if the velocity is back to setup. If you can find another good starter the end of april who is winning with decent era and especially exceptional K/W ratio which is a good indicator of his future success. good luck (Lowe is struggling this spring so thats another good reason to be looking later)

      • Would like to see a little more speed everyday but I see who is lurking on your bench to play "catchup" if needed in that category....For a 12-team with that offense I was suprised probably more by your pitcher smartness in later rounds. You did pretty good. Yer up there around 100 saves so that is that. Dont know what Randy Johnson has left in SF but we shall see might be good 5th starter still.........good luck,,,,,,,,nice team
