I wrote a much longer answer to which the below was the conclusion, however, it was over the 4000 character limit.
Lucky you, it was early, I had fresh coffee, and spare time.
Draft best player available with the first pick, draft by position after that, don't look at pitchers until late round 4 at the earliest (6-7 preferable), don't touch a reliever till 7 or later as there is way too much turnover as many teams have been killed by that alone. Take 2-3 ace starters and draft the rest relievers and set-up men (middle relievers who don't get many saves if any). The first will get you quality innings, and the relievers will generally give you better k/9 ratio, and keep averages down. Pitchers with high strikeouts usually have higher ERA and lower WHIP (walking average; because they are trying to thow strikes), but quality reliever will usually have miniscule ERA and a slightly higher WHIP (because as much as they have a fresh arm to put guys away, they will walk big hitter or guys with high averages if the game is too close).
Follow this very long and convoluted set of instructions and you should place high.
I need a life outside fantasy sports ;)-
