Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
I am in an 8 team league and I want to trade for Arod. What kind of deal should I offer?
He has Youk and Reynolds to take over at third and he has a week outfield, but he keeps telling me he wants pitching. I don't want to give up too much pitching because I have the best staff and I am in first place as is. My offense is good enough but it would obviousley be better with Arod. He also has Carmona on the DL, I think I might be able to get him in the deal without giving a lot for him. Any thoughts on what I could do?
First off I wouldn't really go after ARod, you either have him or you don't. Trading for him will cost you too much. But you do need a third baseman (no way should derosa be your starting 3B in a 8 team league). I think it would be alot easier to go after someone like ARam or Miguel Cabrera.
But if you want to make an offer for ARod I think you'll probably have to include Hamilton packaged with a pitcher. I don't think anyone else would be enough.
Anyway here are some offers you could start out with
Hamilton + Bills for ARod
Lee + Haren for ARod
Lee + Webb for ARod
Markakis + Webb for ARod (doubtful but worth a try)
Bay + Burrell + Webb for ARod

I just traded Cabrera for Hamilton. I didn't want to do it but he accepted before I had a chance to cancell. He also has Ramirez and he won't give him up. I offered him Bay straight up. He has Howard/Fielder at first and Lowell at third. That is the only reason I have Derosa at third for me.

Arod missed a month though. There is no question Hamilton plays on the better team. The first four hitters in his lineup are allstars (all of them should be starters), where Arod has no help around him. I already decided I am going to keep my team and give up on Arod.
A lot of these people are idiots.
I think you don't really need ARod, man. If you're running in first and you got quality hitters like Bay on your bench, why get him?
But in an 8-team league, you should have much better hitting than that. Who's on the wire?

That is what I was thinking. My hitting is fine. There is one team that has Soto and McCann, he also has Lowell, Ramirez, and Cabrera and he won't trade them. So, I can't upgrade at third or catcher. I drafted Jeter early so I don't want to give up on him. Plus, there isn't any SS available. The best players available are Kemp, Murphy, Gullien, Victorino, and DeJesus. None of those players would help me. I am playing in a league where the owners are baseball smart so it is very spread out. No one is stacked. I think my pitching is clearly the best, other than that, it is a toss up on everything else.
Offer him Doc ,Dempster and one of your closers if he comes back and says he wants offence youll have to throw in one of your Ofs i dont think i would start with Hamilton but if you want the best player in the league your gonna have to pay!
I don't think I am going to offer him anything else. He doesn't have the pitching or the complimentary players around Arod to win the league anyway. He thinks he can do it with just him. As long as he doesn't trade him to another team I think Arod will be harmless on his squad. Plus, I am the only team that has the extra players available to give away to get Arod.
