Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
You need to look into finding someone better than Lopez for Utility IF; Rollins is slumping; Hart is replaceable; Rowand is replaceable........You have a bunch of average players....top picks were probably Rollins, Wright, Verlander, Hamels, Cabrera.......None of them are having stellar years, your best waiting to see if they come around and have a hot 2nd half.
Stick Doumit in your Catcher spot and trade Pierzynski for a speedy outfielder or a power guy. Or you could trade Doumit- he'd get a better player than A.J. Also, drop Jose Lopez like a box of rocks, unless it is a deep league.
Not enough SP.
In my leagues there are 2 SP, 2 RP, 3P, 5 Bench. on average I have 8 SP and 1 bench outfielder, or 7 SP (that league I have Pap, Mariano, Percival and Wood as RP)
I'm 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 2nd in my leagues.
Even if Galarraga's record is someting like 9-4, you want more assurance. Some weeks, my wins/ERA are behind until Saturday, other times, I can just bench my pitchers on Thursdays. And with more SP you can play matchups, hot streaks, etc, like I didn't start anyone playing against Tampa the last 2 weeks.
1. You've been unlucky with injuries (Doumit, Rollins, Dice K, Figgins...
2. You have some good players who have numbers below what people expected (Rollins, Markakis, Cabrera, Verlander)
3. Your closers are mediocre at best.
You can't do anything about 1 and 2. Try to trade for a better closer. (I would start a deal by including one of your catchers). Also, I would play Figgins every day.
You team is pretty good. Sit back and hope it improves.
