Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
Ask me all your questions about prospects. And try and go a little bit deeper than the big names everyone knows. I can give you info on your keeper prospects or who your favorite team has waiting in the minors and even some of the recent draft picks.

there is no good investments in baseball cards anymore. The only things worth anything are autographed rookies. And most of the first round draft picks from the previous year are immediately priced as if the player was already a star. It isn't worth the investment.
Well, keeping with my typical Tribe prospect questions, what are your thoughts on Meloan and Santana, the guys the Tribe got in the Casey Blake trade. I know they have numbers that impress (Meloan's K rate and Santana's A-ball numbers), but do you know much about them? Thanks.

Meloan is a converted reliever, and was formerly a closer of the future type. It looks like the Indians are shifting him back to the pen where he could be pitching some important innings next season. I'm betting Betancourt turns it around at some point and takes over the closer's role though. This has to be due to being overworked last season.
Santana actually profiles as a plus defensive catcher. He had always projected to hit well, but hadn't done it until this season. It is the Cal league so the numbers are better than they look. But his defensive will keep him behind the plate and he should post above average offensive numbers from the position.

no Yankees with significant long term (or short term) fantasy value should be called up this year.
Stephen Marek is a throw in and worthless, he can't repeat his mechanics leading to command problems and decreased velocity. He has the stuff to succeed as a reliever if he would put it all together but at this point and with his lack of progress in a system known for developing pitchers he's not even a good set up man. Awful trade for the Braves.

Bullington is a bust and probably won't get another chance in a rotation.
Tabata has lost a lot value and has been passed on the depth chart by Austin Jackson. There is a good chance you see him traded in the next week.
David Price is the top pitching prospect in the minors and is worth saving your waiver for in all leagues.
Max Scherzer is pitching again in AAA. He should be back in the rotation in a few weeks with Owings moving to the bullpen and then possibly switching to a hitter next season. He never struggled in his first call up and should be preemptively added in a week or two.

there isn't 10 impact players left to be called up this season.
Andrew McCutchen is most likely the top bat left. I don't think Mat Gamel or Matt LaPorta will be called up this season. You could keep your eye on older players tearing up the minors like Dallas McPherson and Nelson Cruz. Both likely will be traded at the deadline to a team willing to give them a chance. But I wouldn't pick either up until they show they can produce in the majors.
David Price is the top pitcher with Gio Gonzalez further behind him. Beyond that there really isn't as much out there. There's a chance for Carlos Carrasco but thats unlikely after the Joe Blanton trade.
I don't think there will be anyone else worth owning in standard leagues called up.
