Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
this is a 12-team yahoo public head-to-head winner league team (team name- 6-4). i drafted this team in hope that i would be able to win 6-4 nearly every week. it is important to note that i traded matsuzaka/shields/weeks/ellsbury/victorino/pierre for bedard/beckett:
of- c gomez
bn- f lopez
rp- f rodrigez
can this team get it done?
your pitching looks real good. Only problem I can see is with Sabathia/Verlander/Beckett they will pitch against eachother tons of times this year. If another ace gets hot I might trade one for the other straight up. You might run in to some trouble with steals so you might try for one or two more players that can consistently carry the category. Hope that when you make the playoffs your base stealers keep it up and don't get streaky.
Most H2H minimum inning pitched requirements is 7 innings in a given week. The opponent who only starts one high end starter, hell "No K" John Garland, and a single reliever like Betancourt, or Bell, or Broxton, or Putz, Rivera, etc. (to get to 7innings) in a single week against a team like this can specifically attempt to steal whip and era. Punting W/Ks/saves on purpose, since they're supposed to lose all 5 categories anyway. Will require the Distler type team to win at least 2 hitting categories just to tie the week, and teams like that simply cannot. Great strategy will always require a counter strategy and then cross your fingers.
if thats the way your league works depending on the exact stats you can win every week, unless all the best pitchers in the mlb all get hurt, then your screwed. people who dont think you can win are stupid because obviously your going to win or should win every pitching category. if i were you i would try to get all my offensive players to be able to steal so then you could win atleast one offensive category every week.
this is a long way from my custom league last year w/ my buddies. it was a 6x5 league (walks) with no max gp/ip. it also had 3 util spots. i took hitting in the 1st 15 rounds and did a lot of streaming w/ my pitching. i was able to win the league. this year the settings were changed to 6x6 (walks, holds) with a max gp/ip limit enforced.
to retract what I said earlier....with all of the studs I missed your other closers! my concern is fitting them all in the 7 spots as alot of them will be on the same day, pushing out closers...... I agree with you that once your in the playoffs, its about the winner not the score....... like I said...if I had the balls...... good luck, I think you will frustrate alot of people in your league! I see a lot of people that keep a deep becnc, that never plays, so I always stacked on pitchers that will give me something....you took it to another level. If you lose k's any week I will poop myself!!!!! not many other guarentees in this game...
