Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
12 team H2H League
Standard Points, but 2 WR, 2 RB, 1 Flex
I have the 2nd pick.
If I draft RB-RB in the first two rounds, and there is a good RB available when it comes to my 3rd pick, should I take a RB (Frank Gore, Chris Johnson, Lamar Miller, Reggie Bush, DeMarco Murray, Darren McFadden, etc.) and fill my flex or should I get one of the top WRs (Demaryius Thomas, Roddy White, Randall Cobb, Victor Cruz, Larry Fitzgerald, Andre Johnson, Vincent Jackson, etc.)?
Almost everyone you named will be off the board by the time your third pick comes up. In a 12 league I would go RB-WR or reverse with the first two picks. Third pick is going to depend on how the balance of RBs to WRs at that point in the draft looks. Fourth round I go shopping for my starting QB. Most other teams are not going to make the FLEX a high priority so I can probably wait at least until round 6 or 7 before I consider that.
Ive posted this website before but "fantasy football calculator" is one of my fav's for answering these type of questions.
The way they show completed mock drafts really helps you think about how to put together your team.
of course you adjust on the fly and for some reason someone lasts 10 -15 spots past their ADP you proabaly want to snag him. Of course i did that last year when greg jennings dropped to the fourth rd in a ten team draft and that worked out terribly.
depends on the draft. I've been going best available RB/ WR in the 3rd if i start RB-RB. if the league goes RB heavy, sometimes thomas makes it to the 3rd. if they go WR heavy, i've gotten chris johnson in the 3rd.
You can disregard the dilemma for Thomas, Jones and likely all other relatively sure WR1s will already be gone by round 3 (yes, even at 26). If you draft the third RB you can be certain your WR1 will be a Brown, Wallace, Garçon or Smith and your WR2 will be a WR3. If you engage in the RB frenzy afflicting most drafts you simply can't get a solid WR1. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing if strong WR production indeed does go very deep.

thanks. but i've done a lot of mock drafts and a few WR1s have been available at pick 26.
from what i'm seeing, most drafts go something like this: AP, Foster, Martin, Charles, Spiller, Lynch, Rice, Richardson, Morris, McCoy, Calvin J., Green, Rodgers, Jackson, Graham, Marshall, Dez, Forte, Ridley, Brees, MJD, Julio Jones, Newton, Demaryius, Gore, #26...
so, assuming guys like white, cobb, cruz, and fitzgerald are available at pick 26, i'm thinking you suggest i grab one of them?
