Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
I'd like to hear the gurus opinion on this draft. I had the first pick
1. Adrian Peterson (Min - RB)
2. Miles Austin (Dal - WR)
3. Peyton Hillis (Cle - RB)
4. Santonio Holmes (NYJ - WR)
5. Vernon Davis (SF - TE)
6. Eli Manning (NYG - QB)
7. Green Bay (GB - DEF)
8. Steve Breaston (KC - WR)
9. Johnny Knox (Chi - WR)
10. Ryan Torain (Was - RB)
11. Braylon Edwards (SF - WR)
12. Rob Bironas (Ten - K)
13. Matt Cassel (KC - QB)
14. Jermaine Gresham (Cin - TE)
15. San Francisco (SF - DEF)
I like your first 3 picks, Eli and Cassel are solid picks where you took them as well. I don't like jumping on a top DEF though. I would have instead gone for a backup RB and waited longer for a DEF or even took one with your last pick and shuffle during the season. Now you're stuck with Torain to back you up.
overall it seems like you did good with what you probably had to pick from. a couple of questionable picks: holmes is good but a little early, too early for DEF, same with breaston, otherwise not too shabby
4/10 Hillis was ok in round 3 if Forte was gone, but it is the worst group of WRs I can think of. You way over-reached for Holmes. He is a WR3 at best. Breaston in Round 8? Roy Williams probably hurts Knox and Edwards is a pipe dream. All that would be a heck of a lot better if you had a stud QB instead of QB #11. At least you got Rob Bironas who should kick a FG every other game on a crap Tenn team.

I appreciate everyone replies and tips. If any consistent top finishers are reading, I'd take all the draft strategy I can get. This is just my 3rd year of playing so, I'm still learning but, I think I have a much better handle on things as I go along.
Maybe your tips can put my draft over the top
I like the AP + Miles combo. How many people are in your league? 20th overall does seem a little bit early for Miles
Picking first I agree with your strategy of waiting on a qb. I would've waited for round 5 in hopes of a big ben or josh freeman being there (someone who uses their legs). Im not a fan of eli, but if he was the best there then so be it. That is where i would have grabbed a qb.
I am a big fan of waiting on a TE, there is incredible depth at that position all the way down to Jared Cook who is like ranked 20th and probably undrafted in your league. 5th round for Vernon Davis is a little to early in my books as there likely would have still been a great skill player left there like Marshall or Collie, or at least someone with upside like Daniel Thomas or Mark Ingram.
Finally, I never carry two defenses or two TE's. Load up on guys with upside, emmanuel sanders, danny amendola, rashad jennings they will all be better than jermaine gresham.
Round 12 is wayyyyyyyyy to early to grab a kicker. I usually go 15.

It was a 12 team league. I could have gotten Orton. He was great til late last year. Pass happy Josh McDaniels is out and John Fox in though. I don't expect Orton to repeat his numbers from last year. I don't love Eli either.
QB I could have had Orton, Kolb, Cutler,Stafford, Flacco,Bradford
Seems like TE have quite a dropoff after the studs
